Karimnagar: Telangana State Food Commission chairman K Tirumal Reddy instructed officials to work towards developing a healthy society by implementing the Food Security Act effectively.
Food commission chairman along with collector RV Karnan conducted a review meeting with officials to discuss the implementation of Food Security Act-2013 in the district at the Collectorate auditorium here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Tirumal Reddy said that every person has a right to lead life with dignity. State government was implementing a number of schemes for the welfare of the people. It was the responsibility of officials to take steps to reach them to the public.
Besides KCR kits for lactating mothers, nutritious food including eggs, balamrutham and other were being provided to children, pregnant and lactating women through anganwadi centers. While grocery is being supplied through ration shops, school going children were provided food in the mid-day meal programme. Besides taking steps to reach welfare schemes to beneficiaries, it was necessary to provide them the legitimate rights of the people.
Instructing officials to provide ration cards to eligible people, he advised the people to voluntarily return their ration cards if the latter were not required cards. He instructed officials not to stop supply of ration to the people above the age of 65 years and aged people on the pretext of fingerprints and Irish problems.
Advising the officials to take the responsibility to supply ration to all the people, he instructed Tahsildhars to monitor ration shops.
