Siddipet: The expert radiation oncologists of Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet have performed a rare surgery on a patient from Siddipet recently. The doctors have performed a surgery with precision radiotherapy on Nimmala Suresh (31).
Speaking to news reporters in Siddipet on Wednesday, Dr. Kiriti Ranjan Mohanthy, consultant radiation oncologist, said that Suresh was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour neurocytoma.
Since he was suffering from frequent headaches, vomiting, imbalance, and intra-cranial pressure, the doctor said that he was diagnosed with the rare tumour. He said that the tumours located within the ventricular system of the brain were difficult to manage since their presence close to the brain.
“Early diagnosis, precise surgical excision, and advanced adjuvant therapies are critical to achieving favourable outcomes in such cases,” Dr Kirti said.
“Neurocytoma is a rare, typically low-grade brain tumour that arises within the ventricles of the brain. Although considered relatively slow-growing, incomplete excision or residual disease can lead to recurrence and neurological deterioration,” the doctor said.
He said that managing such cases required a multi-disciplinary approach involving neurosurgery, radiation oncology, advanced imaging, and meticulous follow-up.
The experts treated the young patient with left lateral ventricle neurocytoma, restoring neurological stability and ensuring long-term disease control.
Suresh is currently clinically stable, neurologically intact, and has resumed normal daily activities. He remains under regular follow-up with the radiation oncology team, with no evidence of disease progression.
This case highlights the advanced capabilities of Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet, in managing rare and complex brain tumours through a combination of expert neurosurgery, precision radiation oncology, and comprehensive supportive care, the oncologist said.
