Mancherial on Saturday.
Mancherial: A farmer and an MSc graduate launched a 48-hour hunger strike and seeking alms in protest of lackadaisical attitude of revenue officials in registering a piece of land on his name in Thandur mandal centre on Saturday. His protest went viral on social media platforms.
Thautam Rajendra Prasad alleged that revenue authorities of Thandur mandal centre were harassing him and his father by delaying the registration of his land to the extent of about 14 acres. He accused that the authorities were backing the neighbouring farmers, who occupied the land by accepting bribes.
The 35-year old claimed that he had purchased the land admeasuring around 22 acres from Kilari Sudharshan Rao, a native of Thandur, but settled in Chennai since 2010. “Since then, I have been moving from pillar to post for registering it in my name” he said alleging that the neighbours had encroached almost 13 acres of land. Thandur MRO D Kavita refuted the allegations levelled against the authorities and said the land details which figured in Part B during purification of lands, were not corrected in the records due to closure of the website of the department. She stated that the asset would be recorded once the State government issues orders.
