The incident occurred around 2.30 pm when the car was proceeding from AS Rao Nagar towards Malkajgiri.

According to the police, on seeing flames and smoke suddenly emanating from the engine, the duo stopped the car on the road and rushed out of it. Motorists passing by noticed the fire and alerted the fire department and police.
