Nalgonda: After nearly 100 days and as per the demands of different sections, re-postmortem is being conducted to Karla Rajesh’s body at Kodad here on Friday.
Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga and other senior police officials are present at the spot. Karla Rajesh died under suspicious circumstances at Huzurnagar sub jail on November 15 last year.
The alleged custodial death of Karla Rajesh, a dalit in Huzurnagar sub jail had triggered a political storm in the State. Rajesh was accused in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund misappropriation case.
However, Dalit organisations have been charging that the police had tortured and assaulted Karla Rajesh in the jail, resulting in his death. Alleging serious lapses and police atrocity, the MRPS president has been demanding a detailed probe by a sitting judge or the CBI into the alleged custodial death of Karla Rajesh.
He had even charged that police were trying to conceal the evidence related to the case. The MRPS and Karla Rajesh’s family had approached the SC/ ST Commission charging illegal detention and torture.
Following the Commission’s orders, re-postmortem is being conducted today. Based on the report findings, further action would be initiated accordingly, reports said.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao had met Rajesh’s family at Kodad on Thursday. He charged that Rajesh was tortured and killed and demanded that DSP, CI and SI, who were allegedly involved in the case, should be dismissed from the service.
The BRS working president also demanded that local MLA and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to respond on the issue. It was unfortunate that DSP Sridhar Reddy, who was involved in the case, got promoted and the Irrigation Minister should give an explanation in this regard, he said.
“Karla Rajesh’s custodial death issue will be raised in the Assembly,” Rama Rao had assured.
