Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Monday urged citizens to celebrate Holi festival responsibly and warned of strict action against those creating trouble or harassing others during the festivities.
During a video conference held from the TGICCC in Banjara Hills, the commissioner reviewed security arrangements with senior officers and directed them to ensure strong visible policing across the city. He instructed Blue Colts teams and patrolling units to maintain constant vigil to prevent any untoward incidents.
The commissioner made it clear that forcibly applying colours to unwilling individuals would not be tolerated. Throwing colours on pedestrians and vehicles in public places has also been prohibited.
“To curb harassment of women, She Teams personnel will be deployed in plain clothes across the city to keep a close watch on miscreants,” he said.
Citizens were advised to use natural colours instead of chemical-based ones.
No DJs:
The police also announced that DJs will not be permitted during Holi celebrations. Vehicles will be seized if youths are found creating a nuisance by roaming in groups on roads.
Ramzan:
With the holy month of Ramzan underway, zonal officials have been instructed to ensure that their prayers are conducted without any disruption. Police will coordinate with peace committees, and additional security will be deployed in sensitive areas.
Liquor outlets closed:
Liquor shops, toddy outlets, bars and restaurants under the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on March 3, in view of Holi.
Police warned that cases will be registered under the City Police Act against those violating norms.
Citizens were advised to dial 100 in case of any law and order issues.
