Hyderabad: Telangana has been making rapid strides in improving its healthcare system, particularly after the pandemic, with several initiatives implemented and in the pipeline.
Healthcare, particularly for the poor, received a major boost on Wednesday when 19 Telangana Diagnostic Centres were inaugurated across the State. A brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, each centre has been set up at Rs 2.5 crore to ensure free diagnostic services to the poorer sections.
Inaugurating one such centre at Sangareddy Government Hospital, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said 16 more diagnostic centres would come up across the State. The Minister pointed out that patients visiting a hospital in the districts usually land up spending Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 on diagnostics tests. “Since the government is offering 57 free diagnostic services at these centres, it will be of great help to the poor,” he said.
He further said diagnostic services at the lab for post-Covid tests would help patients save Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000. “Samples collected from the health centres across the districts will also be brought to the district headquarters for diagnostic tests,” he said.
