Mancherial: In a freak mishap, a 30-year-old driver was killed on the spot when he sustained serious head injuries as he fell off a two-wheeler in which he was travelling along with his friend at a forest department’s check post Thapalapur village in Jannaram mandal on Sunday. The rider’s rash and negligent driving to evade interception by personnel at the check post caused the mishap.
Sub-Inspector Madhusudan said that the deceased was Sudaveni Venkatesh Goud, a native of Kotthakummugudem village in Luxettipet mandal.
Venkatesh received fatal injuries when fell down from the motorbike, resulting in instantaneous death for him. He was a pillion rider on the two-wheeler and was travelling along with his friend Bandi Chandrasekhar belonging to Patha Kummugudem village in Luxettipet mandal at the time of the mishap.
In a video clip recorded by CCTV at the check post, Venkatesh’s head dashed against a wooden gate of the forest department at the check post when Chandrasekhar zoomed past it fearing being caught by the foresters for violating norms of the lockdown. The clip went viral on social media platforms. Users of WhatsAp shared it widely requesting motorists not hastily cross-check posts.
Based on a complaint received Malla Goud, father of the victim, a case was registered against Chandrasekhar under Section 304 (A) (Rash and negligence act leading to death) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations were taken up.
