Mallaram Forest
Away from hustle and bustle of urban lifestyle, Mallaram forest is located in Nizamabad and is well accessible by road. It is 200 km away from Hyderabad. The major attractions are forest treks, a pagoda, and a tower that serves as a viewpoint tower. The forest, which is home to migratory birds and animals, boasts of 1.45 billion years old rock that pulls you into the lap of nature. Yelleswaragattu Island
Yelleswaragattu Island, famously known as a mysterious island, is located in the middle of the backwaters of Nagarjunasagar Dam. This long-forgotten isle is 169 km away from Hyderabad and takes about three hours to reach. The boat ride to the peak of the island where you can plan an overnight stay is an absolute delight. The fisherman will take you to the spot which costs you Rs 1,500. If you don’t want to have a night’s stay on the island, you can opt for a casual boat ride which costs Rs. 200 per person.

Jannaram Forest
Winter is as an ideal season to visit this sanctuary. It offers services like jeep safaris, and bird watching trips for tourists who can enjoy their stay, spotting rare animals in the wild habitat. It is about 290 km from Hyderabad and 80 km from Nirmal. At about 50 km is the Kadem project and from there, another 30 km is the drive to Jannaram.
Devarakonda Fort
Devarakonda Fort is definitely of the hidden gems of architectural beauty in the State. A visit into this spectacular fort located in a tiny village called Devarakonda in Nalgonda is like stepping into a historical trance with every corner of the fort unveiling the great tales of bravery, struggles, and triumph of its rulers. The view from this fort is stunning as it’s surrounded by a series of seven hills, huge boulders, and a jungle.
Devarakonda is at a distance of nearly 117 km from Hyderabad on Nagarjuna Sagar road from where tourists need to take a small diversion from Kondalpahad. It takes about 3 hours to reach this place by road. From Nalgonda town, Devarakonda could be reached in an hour.
Nagunur Fort
Nagunur Fort is considered to be one of the most important forts of the glorious Kakatiya dynasty in the State. It is home to a host of important temples dating back to the 12th to 13th centuries. Inside the fort, there is a cluster of ruined temples dating back to periods of Kalyani, Chalukya, and the Kakatiyas. The inscriptions found here testify its importance as both political and religious center in medieval times.
The fort is located close to Jagityal town, situated nearly 11 km away, and is nearly 61 km from the district headquarters of Karimnagar. It is accessible by road.
Khilla Ghanpur
Khilla Ghanpur, one of the most historical places and lesser-known spots near Mahabubnagar, is worth exploring if you are looking to spend quality time in the midst of nature and solitude. The hike to the top may take you two hours. Though it is a tiring climb, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view from the top. The sight of Ghanpur Lake from the peak is picturesque.
Gautameshwara Temple
Gautameshwara temple in Manthani is known for its great historical archeological and religious evidence. This place is considered to be the oldest example of Vedic learning. The beautifully carved temple is in ruins at this point in time with crumbling walls and creeper-adorned sculptures.
Pakhal Lake
Dating back to 1213 AD, this man-made lake, tucked inside the sanctuary, is all about beauty and a promising tranquil retreat. Prettiest views of the countryside with curvy roads, endless stretches of greenery, roadside stalls, and friendly people will welcome you. If you’d like to explore the lake properly, take a calming boat ride for Rs 300. You can book accommodation at Haritha Hotel in Pakhal.
It takes a 30-minute drive from Warangal to reach Pakhal Lake and almost 4 hours’ drive from Hyderabad.
