Adilabad police retrieve 200 stolen mobile phones in 40 days, handed over to owners
Akhil Mahajan urged the public to report lost or stolen phones on the CEIR portal. Police recovered 200 phones worth Rs 39 lakh, warning traders to avoid buying stolen handsets.

Adilabad: Akhil Mahajan advised the public to report on CEIR portal if a mobile was lost or stolen. He handed over 200 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 39 lakh to genuine owners at a programme held here on Thursday.
Akhil stated that a special team was formed to recover the stolen and lost mobile phones in the district. He noted that the team managed to retrieve 200 handsets in a gap of 40 days. A total of 1,500 mobile phones were successfully returned to the owners so far. A major portion of handsets were recovered from north India, he pointed out.
The SP advised the victims to contact the nearest police station immediately after losing their mobile phones. He warned traders of phones and repair shop owners that they must obtain proper documentation and owner’s permission before buying a handset. Legal action would be taken against them if they purchased stolen mobile phones.
Additional SP P Mounika, trainee IPS officer Rahul Kant, Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy and other police officials were present.
