Adilabad women vow to nurture, protect saplings planted under GIC
They celebrated International Women’s Day by planting saplings under the Green India Challenge, an initiative by former Rajya Sabha member J. Santosh Kumar, at a village in Echoda mandal on Saturday.

Adilabad: Women from Mukhra (K) village pledged that they would protect each sapling with utmost care, carrying forward the legacy of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in raising greenery.
They celebrated International Women’s Day at the saplings planted under Green India Challenge conceived by former Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar at the village in Echoda mandal on Saturday.
The women vowed to nurture and protect the saplings planted as part of the green initiative. They said that they would present a green gift to mother earth. They stated that they would continue the legacy of Rao in enhancing the green cover of Telangana. They recalled that Telanganaku Haritha Haram initiated by Rao played a vital role in improving forest cover of the State.
Sarpanch of the village Gadge Meenakshi recounted that she launched ‘Digital Tree Aadhar, a QR code-based method to track growth, age, health and location of a tree by geo-tagging trees planted through different programmes in the village on February 25. She noted that the women planted 1 lakh saplings in a piece of 10 acres of land located in Brihit Palle Prakruthi Vanam in a phased manner.
