Khammam: Assigned land holders at Raghunathapalem in Khammam district complained that some realtors had allegedly encroached their lands and developed layouts illegally.
The land owners met District Collector VP Gautham here on Monday and submitted a memorandum seeking action against the realtors. In the memorandum, they said, in 1990, the then government allotted 38 acres of agriculture lands under Survey numbers, 196, 187, 184, 189 and 198 of Mallemadugu village in Khammam Urban mandal to 14 SC/ST farmers.
For some years, the lands were cultivated and in view of lack of proper irrigation facilities, those who have legal rights on these lands took up labour work to earn livelihood. In the meantime, some realtors encroached the lands and developed layouts illegally without the consent of the land owners, they said.
The realtors even prevented the land owners from entering their lands, they complained. Assistant Director Of Land Records (ADLR) also issued a supplementary Sethwar (definitive record of lands) with the file number H5/201/1990, the land owners informed the Collector.
The affected farmers appealed to the Collector to order a detailed probe into the issue and take steps to free the lands from the clutches of encroachers and hand them over to legal owners. The 38 acres of land in question was taken over by the government under the Land Ceiling Act.
According to revenue officials some realtors have purchased the lands at throwaway price from farmers though the law prohibits sale or alienation or transfer of assigned lands. The layouts developed on the lands were illegal, they said.
