Hyderabad: Starring actor Aadi Sai Kumar and Nuveksha in the lead, upcoming romantic action thriller ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ will hit the screens this Friday. Director Polimera Nageshwar is making his debut with the movie, and says ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ would be a landmark film in the career of Aadi Sai Kumar.
Nageshwar, a native of Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, has been working in various projects under big directors like K Vishwanath and SS Rajamouli. However, he is optimistic of getting a possible break with his debut film after 20 years of struggle in the film industry.
“I was toiling a lot in the early 2000s, now I’m happy that I could direct a movie with an actor like Aadi Saikumar. The movie is about a protagonist named Abhay Ram who struggles with a phobia that keeps haunting him for a long time. Time and again, he gets taunted for the weakness that he is suffering from. How does his love interest Nuveksha come into his life, and how does a turnaround happen are part of the plot. Comedian and actor Saptagiri will be the major highlight in the film. Naveena Reddy and other artistes are going to add fun to the story,” says the director.
Rather than making it a story-driven film, Nageshwar wanted the film to be made with a commercial template. “I usually write stories that have suspense and romance. Although ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ has a very old-fashioned title, the story is set in the modern era. There’s an ample scope for all the characters in the film,” he says.
The director ensured that the story suits the image of Aadi Saikumar. Sharing that a major part of the shooting was held in Hyderabad and songs were shot in Darjeeling, Nageshwar adds, “I’ve no doubt that the film will create some noise at the box office. We were able to complete the film on time because of the producers Rajababu Miryala and Ashok Reddy Miryala. We initially thought of releasing the film post Sankranti, but reconsidered our decision keeping in view the present scenario of Covid-19 and Omicron scare. I am hopeful the audiences would like the movie.”
