Warangal Urban: An awareness meeting on the engagement of common citizens in the national mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was held on Sunday under the auspices of Warangal Urban District Childline-1098 at Shambhunipeta Labour Adda in the city as part of the Mahatma Gandhi’s 151st birth anniversary celebrations.

Addressing the meeting, erstwhile Warangal District Child Welfare Committee chairperson Mandala Parashuramulu said that every citizen should follow the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi.

“Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of having a clean and healthy India. He said that all of us can live a healthy life if the environment is kept clean. So people should dutifully throw the rubbish in the bin instead of throwing it on the streets,” he said, adding that the Swachh Bharat programme would be successful only through people’s participation.

He said that in a country like India which has a large population, people from all walks of life are more likely to fall ill due to lack of personal hygiene.

The CWC chairman said that everyone should work towards making it a public movement to achieve Swachh Bharat and workers should practice personal hygiene and everyone should use toilets. Childline-1098 Warangal District Nodal Coordinator Iqbal Pasha, team members Siddhartha, Sirisha, and 150 workers attended the programme.
