Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of Builders Association of India (BAI) has appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to clear pending bills of Rs.10,000 crore and sought a meeting to share their hardships.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister on Saturday, the Association said “no State can progress if its entrepreneurs and builders are in distress. Our sector is vital to the growth and development of Telangana,” the BAI Telangana unit said in the letter.
The BAI office bearers stated that the Congress government has to clear nearly Rs.10,000 crore pending bills in all the departments. In November last, the BAI had made a similar appeal to the Congress government.
“Despite submitting several representations and meeting Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, our issues remain unresolved. We were assured of a meeting four months ago, but it has not yet materialised,” the BAI past Vice president DVN Reddy and others said in the letter.
The BAI appreciated the government’s efforts in addressing the concerns of employees. But, it also reminded that contractors were a crucial pillar of the economy.
“We generate employment for more than six lakh workers directly and support 10 lakh people indirectly,” the BAI stressed.
