Peddapalli: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, reacting to the demolition of 46 Daari Maisamma temples by municipal officials in Ramagundam Municipal Corporation limits, threatened to demolish all mosques and structures of other religions in the area if the temples were not rebuilt in 48 hours.
Expressing anger over the demolition, the Minister issued an ultimatum to officials to rebuild the shrines, warning that he would visit Godavarikhani after the Jubilee Hills by-election and demolish structures of other religions if they failed to comply.
Bandi Sanjay, who is currently in Hyderabad, spoke to Collector Koya Sree Harsha and Municipal Commissioner Aruna Sree over the phone on Saturday.
When officials told him that the temples were removed as part of road expansion, the Minister questioned why structures of other religions were not removed. Issuing the ultimatum, he told officials to either rebuild the Maisamma temples or demolish other religious structures within 48 hours, warning that he would visit Godavarikhani after the bypoll and demolish all mosques located on roads.
He said all government officials, including the Chief Secretary, would have to stand before the public and asserted that officials would be held responsible for the consequences.
