Basketball: Rising Stars Hyderabad start on a winning note

Hyderabad: Rising Stars Hyderabad began their campaign in level 4 in the Annual League Basketball Championship, conducted by The Hyderabad District Basketball Association for the G M Sampath Kumar Trophy, with a 44-31 win over Sanskruthi in the inaugural match at the City College Old Boys courts. At half-time, Rising Stars Hyderabad led 32-17.
Shashi Kamal and Sai Kamal gave a rousing start to the winners as they notched up 19 points in the frist quarter against 4 by the loser after which both sides scored 13 and 5 apiece in the 2nd and 3rd quarters before Sanskruthi outscored Rising Stars 9-7 in the final quarter, which however was not sufficient to take them to victory.
Sai Kamal led the scorers tally for the winner with 12 points scoring thrice from the 3 point area, Shashi Kamal scored 10, Nikhil and Varshith Raj contributing 8 points each with the latter having 2 successful shots from the 3 point zone.
For the loser, Balashowry had an individual score of 11, Pruthvi 10 with a solitary 3 point shot and Yogi had a score of 6 points.
