Beer prices go up by 15 per cent in Telangana from February 11
Decision to increase the prices was taken on recommendations of Price Fixation Committee; stocks held by IMFL depots, including those in transit, will be sold at the revised MRP from Tuesday
Hyderabad: This summer, beer lovers in Telangana will have to shell out more to chill as the State government has permitted the Excise Department to increase the prices by 15 per cent from February 11.
Principal Secretary SAM Rizvi issued orders to this effect on Monday. The decision to increase the beer prices was taken on the recommendations of the Price Fixation Committee.
Accordingly, the stocks held by IMFL depots, including those in transit, will be sold at the revised MRP from Tuesday.
It may be recalled that United Breweries Limited (UBL) had appealed to the State government to increase the Kingfisher beer prices by 33.1 per cent. It also threatened to cut down the supplies in the State.
Last month, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that the State government would not need to heed to the pressure exerted by companies. However, beer prices have been increased by 15 per cent.
It is also learnt that the Andhra Pradesh government had also increased the liquor prices.
