Adilabad: Farmers expressed concern that they were facing inconvenience due to the lack of procurement centres to buy chickpea or Bengal gram produce. They staged a rasta-roko on a road demanding that the State government procure red gram produce at the Bela mandal centre on Saturday.
The agitating farmers said that they were facing inconvenience due to the lack of Bengal gram procurement centres in their mandal. They stated that they were shifting the grains to a nearby agriculture market yard but were waiting to sell their produce. They lamented that they were forced to sell their produce to private traders due to the lack of facilities.
In the meantime, BRS activists extended solidarity to the farmers’ protest. They stated that the State government was showing negligence in addressing the challenges of farmers. They said that it had failed to take steps to procure the grains, supply fertiliser and extend Rythu Bharosa benefits to farmers. They recalled that farmers were not facing any problems during the BRS-led government.
