BJP highlights last eleven years transformation under Modi government
BJP claims PM Modi transformed Indian politics from "appeasement and division" (pre-2014) to "performance, accountability, and governance" (post-2014), calling this "the politics of report cards"
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called the last eleven years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government a time of major change for India and its politics. Speaking at a party press conference, BJP President J.P. Nadda stated that PM Modi has fundamentally altered Indian political culture during this time, calling it a historic shift worthy of being remembered.
Nadda explained that before 2014, Indian politics was often dominated by “appeasement politics” meaning parties tried to win votes by favoring specific caste or religious groups, which divided society. He contrasted this with the current government’s approach, which he called the “politics of report cards.” This means the government focuses on performance, accountability, and responsible governance, judging itself by the results it delivers for the people. Nadda declared this performance-based approach is now the “new normal.”
He credited Prime Minister Modi for introducing significant reforms and taking bold decisions like ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (abrogating Article 370) and banning the practice of instant divorce among some Muslims (abolishing Triple Talaq). The BJP chief also listed other key actions: enacting a new Waqf Act (managing Muslim charitable trusts), passing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and securing 33% reservation (guaranteed seats) for women in legislative bodies.
Nadda acknowledged it’s hard to cover all eleven years of governance in one briefing. However, he emphasized that the government’s wide range of forward-looking policies and bold changes have laid the groundwork for India to become a developed and self-reliant nation. He believes the Modi government’s bold and transparent style has created a foundation for effective future administration, paving the way for a developed India (“Viksit Bharat”).
Nadda also pointed to the popular saying “Modi hai tau mumkin hai” (If Modi is there, it is possible) as proof of people’s strong trust in the Prime Minister’s leadership and their belief that even difficult tasks can be achieved under him. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building the India everyone dreams of, guided by the principle of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Effort of all).
