Hyderabad: Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on Saturday requested the people to support Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for overall development of Telangana.

Addressing a public meeting organised at Husnabad to mark conclusion of first phase of ‘Praja Sangrama’ yatra taken up by the State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, she said the BJP would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the development of Telangana if it is voted to power in 2023 Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up steps to revive Ramagundam fertilizers factory to supply 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea to farmers in the State. During Covid-19 pandemic, the party activists came to the rescue of poor people and helped them in all fronts, she said.

It was Narendra Modi who extended Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) till Diwali this year to ensure free ration to those in need. As part of the Central scheme, 80 crore Indians will receive fixed quantity of foodgrains per month till November.

The Union Minister demanded that the State government immediately sanction unemployment dole and asked as to why the government failed to officially celebrate Telangana Liberation Day. She highlighted various schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana introduced by the Central government.

“Separate Telangana movement was fought for ‘Neellu’ (water), ‘Nidhulu’ (funds) and ‘Niyamakalu’ (jobs). What happened to them now?” she asked.

Later addressing people, Sanjay said he would work as an ambassador for oustees who lost their land for irrigation projects and render justice to them.

Some people were describing BJP as religion-based party. “Should I speak on behalf of Hindu dharma or Hindus, who are 80 per cent of population, or not?” Sanjay asked.
“One person says that the MIM party will bring Taliban rule and TRS razakars rule. The Telangana society should think whether it wants BJP’s Rama Rajyam or TRS’ razakars rule or MIM’s Taliban rule,” he said.

Thanking the people and party cadre for making the first-phase of yatra a success, he said he covered 348 kilometers in 36 days and interacted with people in 19 Assembly constituencies and half a dozen Parliamentary constituencies in eight districts.

He promised that he would resolve the problems being faced by the people and asked everyone to strive for strengthening the party to bring it power in 2023. He said the yatra would continue after bypoll to Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

The yatra was started from Sri Bhagyalakshmi temple at the historic Charminar in August.
