Bodies get mixed up at Nizamabad Government hospital
Galamani’s relatives who opened the cover were shocked to see another woman’s body.
Nizamabad: A Covid-19 victim’s body was handed over to wrong family at Nizamabad Government General Hospital (GGH). This is the second such incident at Nizamabad GGH in last one and a half month.
Galamani (65), a resident of Shivaji Nagar, was admitted in Nizamabad GGH for Covid treatment last week. She died on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Gangamani, a resident of Varni, was admitted to GGH for Covid treatment and died on Monday night. On Tuesday, GGH staff handed over the bodies to the wrong families.
Gangamani’s relatives, who did not open the cover of the body, performed final rites at Varni. Later, Galamani’s relatives who opened the cover were shocked to see another woman’s body. They handed over the body back to GGH staff and expressed anger over the negligence of the staff.
