‘Book Talk’ induces reading habit
In students, it helps to build vocabulary and fluency which results in their linguistic development.

‘Book Talk’, a book review competition was held recently for the students from grades IV to VI at Gitanjali Devashray School. It was an initiative to inculcate a life-long reading habit in children. Reading is an essential aspect of learning. In students, it helps to build vocabulary and fluency which results in their linguistic development.
Young readers appraised books of varied genres at the event. Some of the students reviewed classics like Tom Sawyer and Matilda, while others chose to articulate contemporary works such as The Magic Finger and Frozen. Roald Dahl was a hot favourite. The literary works of Indian authors like Rabindranath Tagore’s Kabuliwala and Sudha Murthy’s, The Old Man and His God were also featured prominently.
The event was judged by Senior English Language Teacher, Madhurya Bandyopadhyay. The winners of the event are: Class IV: Aanya (I place), Keertana (II place). Class V: Arya Shah (I place), Akshara P (II place) while from class VI Ronak (I place) and Saanvi (II place). It was a memorable experience that reinforced the joy of reading for youngsters.
