Beetroot is one of the super healthy vegetables – a great source of vitamins and minerals. It is rich with sources like Vitamin B9, Manganese, Potassium, Iron and Vitamin C. Beetroot when eaten raw or in its juice form helps in lowering blood pressure and thus is very beneficial for cardiovascular health of individuals. It also helps keep the body healthy and boosts the immune system. This root veggie is a power house for several health nutrients, but due to its distinct taste it is not like by everyone. However, this recipe of beetroot fry might try to add the healthy vegetable on your menu.
There are a plethora of dishes that can be made using beetroot like salads, stir fry, deep fry, curry, juice, kebabs, poori, flavoured rice, soup, halwa and raita as well. Adding to that list is this crispy shallow fried and relishing beetroot recipe which will be loved by even kids. The new variant of this crispy, shallow fried beetrot will make an ideal side-dish and also go well with steamed rice, dal, sambar and rasam as well. Ingredients:
- Beetroot : 2 nos big sized
- Salt : 1/2 tsp or as needed
- Chili powder : 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder : 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder : 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala : a pinch
- Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
- Rice flour : 2 tbsp or as needed
- Oil : 3 to 4 tbsp
Method:
- Take 2 big beetroots, peel, clean, wash and cut them into slices. Marinate them.
- Add the slices to a mixing bowl, add 1/2 tsp of salt or as needed.
- Add 1/2 tsp of chilli powder and coriander powder each, 1/4 tsp of cumin powder and a pinch of garam masala.
- Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and 2 tbsp of rice flour to make them crisp.
- Mix them all together well, other masalas of our choice can also be added, like pepper powder.
- Combine and coat the masala well to the slices, if required add rice flour to it.
- Let it rest for ten minutes.
- Take a thick bottomed pan add 3 to 4 tbsp of oil, and fry one after the other.
- Place a lid and fry for 2 to 3 minutes, flip over and fry for 2 to 3 more min.
- Fry them all until well cooked, prick a fork or toothpick and check it if it goes in easily.
- Fry it until it’s crisp and serve them.
