Bowenpally kidnap case: Cops get custody of Akhila Priya’s aides

Hyderabad: A local court here on Wednesday granted three-day police custody of three accused in connection with Bowenpally kidnap case.

Following the court’s order, N Mallikarjun Reddy, former personal assistant and B Sampath Kumar, the present personal assistant to former AP Minister Akhila Priya and D Bala Chennaiah, a driver were taken into custody from the Central Prison in Chanchalguda, where they were in remand. The court has allowed police custody of them from Wednesday to Friday.


The police had in a petition sought their seven days custody requesting the court that there was not much time for detailed questioning due to the quick arrests and before producing them in court, adding that more things need to be investigated in detail.

Police said the victims Praveen Rao and his brothers were kidnapped with the support of the trio and other henchmen of Akhila Priya. Police also informed the court that these men, if granted bail, would not hesitate to carry out physical attacks on the victims’ family, on Akhila Priya’s instructions.
