Mumbai: A British Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route to Chennai returned to London due to a technical snag on Sunday, the airline said. The aircraft landed safely at Heathrow Airport, and all passengers and crew disembarked normally.
British Airways confirmed: “The aircraft returned to Heathrow as a standard precaution after reports of a technical issue.” However, the airline did not disclose specific details such as the number of passengers and crew on board, departure time, or how long the aircraft was airborne.
According to flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, Flight BA35 was scheduled to depart London Heathrow at 12.40 pm and arrive in Chennai at 3.30 am the following day. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, took off at 1.16 pm after a delay of over 35 minutes. It remained airborne for nearly two hours before returning to Heathrow. Data showed the aircraft flew in multiple holding patterns before landing.
British Airways added: “Our teams are working hard to get their journeys back on track as soon as possible.”
This development comes days after an Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew members. The incident has brought added scrutiny to Dreamliner aircraft operations.
