Brothers drown in pond in Suryapet

Suryapet: Two brothers drowned in a pond while collecting Bathukamma flowers that were floated by women at Annaram village in the district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Bittu (10) and K Chandu (11), sons of Babu and Sujatha. The family resides in a hut near government high school adjacent to the pond. On Saturday evening, the women of the village played Bathukamma and left them in the pond water. On Sunday morning, Bittu and Chandu went to collect the flowers and accidentally drowned in it.
When they did not return after half an hour, their parents searched for them and found their bodies in the pond. On getting information, Thungathurthy police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to government hospital, Thungathurthy for post-mortem.
