Hyderabad: Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy on Sunday said the Congress government was harassing BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao under the guise of the phone-tapping case investigation. He termed it a political stunt by the Congress ahead of municipal elections.
Participating in a protest in Wanaparthy district headquarters where the BRS cadre burnt the effigy of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday, Niranjan Reddy reminded that intelligence systems were a part of governance, meant to address law and order and security concerns within constitutional limits. He accused Revanth Reddy of resorting to diversionary tactics to cover his failure to fulfil election guarantees.
Niranjan Reddy charged the government with pursuing vendetta politics to shift public attention and warned that such actions would receive a strong response from voters. He also objected to reported remarks about abolishing Wanaparthy district, stating that it was created by Chandrashekhar Rao for administrative convenience. “If they touch Wanaparthy district, people will not remain silent,” he said.
He urged voters to respond through the ballot in the upcoming municipal polls.
