BRS alleges Congress MP Vem Narender Reddy misused Bhu Bharati for illegal land transfers
BRS accused Congress MP Vem Narender Reddy of illegally transferring assigned lands through the Bhu Bharati portal and using them for granite mining in Mahabubabad district. The party demanded a judicial inquiry and restoration of lands to beneficiaries
Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday alleged that Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narender Reddy misused the State government’s Bhu Bharati portal to illegally transfer assigned lands to take up mining activities in Mahabubabad district. The party demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged land transfers and mining operations. It also sought cancellation of the ownership transfers and restoration of the assigned lands to the original beneficiaries.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank accused the Congress MP of using the Bhu Bharati portal for illegal land ownership transfers linked to mining operations. He alleged that assigned lands belonging to SC,ST beneficiaries in Arpanpally village of Kesamudram mandal were illegally transferred in the name of Vem Narender Reddy’s son, Vem Krishna Bhargav Reddy.
According to him, around 15 acres of assigned land were linked to the Congress MP’s family. He alleged that the land was being used for black granite mining through a firm named “Sri Sai Krishna Granites”, which operates in the name of Vem Narender Reddy’s wife, Vem Vijayalakshmi.
Krishank shared the copies of land passbooks, survey details, Mining Department records and election affidavits. He questioned how assigned and prohibited lands were converted and registered despite legal restrictions.
“These lands did not appear in earlier election affidavits filed by Vem Narender Reddy during previous elections. These details surfaced only after the Congress government came to power,” Krishank said. The BRS spokesperson also alleged that district officials, including former Mahabubabad Collector Advaith Kumar Singh, approved ownership and registration changes despite the lands being classified as assigned and prohibited in government records.
He questioned how mining permissions were granted on assigned lands and accused officials of acting under political pressure. Sensing a possible quid pro quo arrangement, the BRS spokesperson alleged that officials involved in facilitating the approvals were later given prominent postings. Referring to the transfer of Advaith Kumar Singh from Mahabubabad in February, Krishank claimed that locals in the district had welcomed the move.
“The officer was later appointed as Special Secretary to Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi around the same time Vem Narender Reddy became a Rajya Sabha MP,” Krishank said. He said the BRS would pursue legal remedies, including approaching the Lokayukta, filing a public interest litigation before courts and submitting complaints to relevant authorities. Demanding an impartial probe, the BRS spokesperson said the ownership transfers should be cancelled immediately and the lands restored to the rightful beneficiaries.
He also demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged land transfers and mining activities. Action should be taken against officials involved in approving the ownership changes and mining permissions, he added.
