Hyderabad: Former MP Maloth Kavitha condemned Minister D Anasuya alias Seethakka’s remarks against BRS working president KT Rama Rao. She questioned Seethakka’s outburst and accused her of targeting Rama Rao for political mileage.

“As the party working president, Rama Rao responds on many issues across Telangana. Why is the Minister so frustrated that she started cursing him? Why is she unable to take criticism?” she asked, reminding Seethakka that Mulugu district was carved out during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, Kavitha alleged that Seethakka had lost credibility within her own party, pointing to complaints made to AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and even a Maoist letter against her. She also sought answers over alleged sand mining scams and questioned Seethakka’s silence on the controversial GO 49.

Former ZP Chairperson Tula Uma and BRS leader Sumitra Anand also criticised Seethakka, accusing her of arrogance and intolerance to public criticism. They said that as a Minister, Seethakka was answerable to the people and could not claim immunity from criticism just because she was a tribal leader.

“She is using her cadre to silence dissent, including attacks on journalists in her district. Criticising Rama Rao will not raise her stature. She must focus on governance to win over the public,” they said.
