Hyderabad: Former Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy and S Niranjan Reddy launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his call to demolish BRS flagposts, terming his remarks undemocratic, meaningless and politically desperate.

In a statement on Sunday, Prashanth Reddy said no Chief Minister in a democratic nation could threaten to destroy the symbols or offices of an opposition party. He accused Revanth Reddy of carrying TDP DNA into Congress meetings and questioned his sudden affection for a party rejected by Telangana voters. He reminded that the TDP and its leadership had opposed Statehood for Telangana and were politically boycotted by the people of Telangana.

Terming the Chief Minister as the face of backstabbing politics, the former Minister said people did not forget Revanth Reddy’s role in the Cash-for-Vote case or his alleged attempt to destabilise the first elected Telangana government. He predicted political isolation for the Congress leader in the next elections.

Niranjan Reddy said BRS symbolised Telangana’s self-respect and sacrifice. He accused the Chief Minister of using petty theatrics to divert attention from internal wars in his Cabinet. He recalled that Telangana had suffered discrimination under Congress and TDP rule in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, and thousands had sacrificed their lives during the Statehood struggle due to these inept parties.

He also questioned Revanth Reddy’s alliances, asking whether he was with the Congress, TDP or BJP. “The people are ready to bury the Congress 100 metres deep,” he said, warning that the Congress government would face a harsh verdict for chaos, betrayal and arrogance.
