Hyderabad: The BRS on Thursday submitted a representation to DGP Jitender on a series of violent attacks on the party’s leaders across Telangana as well as the deteriorating law and order situation. The party complained that Congress leaders, in collusion with lower-rank police officers, were orchestrating these attacks.
The BRS delegation comprising former Ministers G Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, MLAs KP Vivekananda, Padi Kaushik Reddy, K Sanjay and senior leader RS Praveen Kumar, submitted a representation to DGP Jitender at his office, urging him to initiate immediate action to prevent such attacks and also punish those who were responsible. They said unless stringent action was initiated, the reputation of the police department would be damaged, and public faith in them would completely erode.
Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, Jagadish Reddy raised serious concerns about a series of violent attacks on BRS leaders, including an attack on BRS leaders in Suryapet’s Tirumalagiri, and an assault when BRS leaders visited flood victims in Khammam district. He also cited the attack on the camp office of BRS leader T Harish Rao in Siddipet and MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy’s residence in Hyderabad.
“Several lower-rank police officials, including an ACP and a Circle Inspector (CI), were complicit in the assault on Kaushik Reddy, while some Congress leaders are even celebrating their birthdays in police stations,” he said. He conveyed former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s concerns over peace and security in the State to the DGP and urged him to act impartially.
The former Minister also targeted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of using offensive language and contributing to the rising tensions in the State. He affirmed that the BRS was a agitation party with a history of enduring such attacks, and would not be intimidated. He said the party would stand strong in the face of adversity. He also cautioned the Chief Minister to “keep his mouth under control” to prevent further unrest.
