Hyderabad: BRS MLA Dr K Sanjay charged the Congress, BJP and TDP with colluding against Telangana on the Banakacherla project row and working in favour of Andhra Pradesh. He stated that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who was loyal to his mentor and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, was compromising on Telangana’s rightful share in Godavari River waters to benefit the neighbouring Telugu state.

Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Sanjay questioned Revanth Reddy’s silence on the Banakacherla project and asked why an Apex Council meeting mandated by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act was not convened to discuss it to date.

“If AP is drawing water illegally and making wrongful claims, why should Telangana remain silent?” he asked, urging the Chief Minister to fight for Telangana, not to save his chair.

Former MLA Dr Methuku Anand stated that Revanth Reddy’s loyalty to Chandrababu Naidu was proving to be harmful to Telangana. He demanded clarification from the Congress government on its action plan against the Banakacherla project.

He said the BRS was ready to confront the Congress government in the Assembly and on the streets if Telangana’s water rights are ignored.
