Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lodged a formal complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), seeking an investigation into alleged corruption and misuse of office by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The main opposition party in Telangana accused the Chief Minister of facilitating contracts worth thousands of crores to Shodha Constructions and KLSR Infratech, owned by close relatives and associates, raising suspicions of money laundering and conflict of interest.
According to the complaint submitted by BRS spokesman Manne Krishank, Shodha Constructions, owned by Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law Srujan Reddy, had reported an income of just Rs 7.1 lakh in 2022 but was awarded contracts worth nearly Rs 1,600 crore. These include a Rs 1,137 crore AMRUT tender, a Rs 115 crore Singareni mining deal, and a Rs 365 crore Dindi Lift Irrigation project.
Similarly, KLSR Infratech, which has been under ED investigation since 2018, allegedly received contracts worth nearly Rs 678 crore under the current Congress regime. Recently, a judge of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLT) recused himself from hearing a case involving KLSR Infratech, citing an attempt by a member of the higher judiciary to seek an order in favour of a particular party.
Krishank also alleged that a vehicle used by Revanth Reddy during his tenure as MP was registered under KLSR Infratech, pointing to close business ties.
Terming the awarding of contracts as blatant favouritism and misuse of public money, the BRS leader demanded a full-fledged ED probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He urged investigators to examine financial transactions, ownership structures, and the Chief Minister’s personal financial interests.
“The misuse of public office to unjustly enrich close relatives and associates not only violates the trust of the people but also undermines the integrity of governance. I request the Enforcement Directorate to treat this matter with utmost urgency and seriousness,” he said.
