Hyderabad: Sounding an alarm over the new labour codes unveiled by the Centre, BRS leader and former MP, B Vinod Kumar on Friday slammed the unilateral move and called for unified action to mount pressure on the government to address the issues faced by the stakeholder groups.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, Vinod kumar and BRTU president, Rambabau Yadav strongly criticized the Central Government’s unilateral action. They stated that the introduction of four new Labour Codes without consulting trade unions or workers’ representatives would have serious repercussions.
They said further that the Centre had consolidated 29 existing labour laws into just four codes without any prior discussion with labour organizations. “The government brought these codes unilaterally.
Workers across the country are deeply concerned and agitated over the anti-labour provisions in these new laws,” Vinod Kumar stated.
They further alleged that while the laws were passed in Parliament without taking workers’ opinions, the Centre is now asking for suggestions only at the stage of drafting rules and regulations.
In response, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi has decided to organize a Round Table Meeting to collect comprehensive feedback on the four labour Codes.
Round Table Meet
Calling for steps to formulate the party’s official stand, the meeting, they said, will be held at Telangana Bhavan, starting at 11:00 AM on December 6.
Key participants will include-leaders of trade unions from Central Government undertakings, representatives from various industrial sectors, leaders of unorganized sector workers’ unions and BRS labour wing functionaries.
BRS Working President KT Rama Rao will attend the round table as the chief guest. The BRS leaders urged all concerned trade unions and workers’ organizations to actively participate and present their views so that a united and strong response can be submitted to the Central Government.
