Hyderabad: The BRS Vidhyarthi (BRSV) wing will hold its State conference at Mallapur VNR Gardens in the Uppal constituency on July 26, with a focus on the contentious Banakacherla project in Andhra Pradesh. The meeting will outline a roadmap for student agitation against the project, which is alleged to be detrimental to the interests of Telangana.
The conference will begin at 10 a.m. and feature three key sessions: former Minister T Harish Rao will address the inaugural session in the morning, followed by former Minister G Jagadish Reddy and MLC Deshapathi Srinivas in the afternoon, and BRS working president KT Rama Rao will deliver the closing address in the evening.
BRSV president Gellu Srinivas Yadav said the conference aims to raise alarm over the Banakacherla project, alleging that conspiracies are being hatched to loot Telangana’s water resources by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that five lakh pamphlets had been distributed across colleges to create awareness among students.
Former MLA Gadari Kishore Kumar accused Chandrababu Naidu of conspiring to divert Telangana’s share of Godavari river waters, while alleging that Revanth Reddy was extending full cooperation to his mentor. He said the filing of illegal cases against BRS leaders was an attempt to suppress dissent but would not succeed.
Former MLA Balka Suman said Telangana’s progress had stalled under the Congress government, which he accused of implementing Emergency-like rule. He alleged that Revanth Reddy had pledged the State’s interests to Chandrababu Naidu and warned that the BRS student wing was prepared to fight until Telangana secured its rightful share of Krishna-Godavari waters.
