Hyderabad: Gitanjali Primary School organised science activity recently. Children are introduced to the concept and history of simple machines via this science activity given in classes IV, V and VI, the school said in a statement.

The students were asked to name some tools which make life easier. They went on a hunt looking for tools around the house and brought along many tools and discussed their uses.

Kids learn how the idea of simple machines, which originated with the Greek philosopher Archimedes, inspired the work of scientists like Galileo Galilei and artists like Leonardo da Vinci.

Illustrations and a matching activity of worksheet also helped students to conceptualize what each of the six types of simple machines—wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw—look like and the working behind these tools.

Children also brainstormed the different examples of all these machines and where they are used. Such activities enhance their scientific temper and encourage them to become budding inventors and young engineers.
