Buffalo’s death helps cops bust bomb making gang in Sircilla

Sircilla: The death of a buffalo helped the police unearth a country bomb manufacturing racket.
Two days ago, a buffalo bit into a bomb it found on the ground in Dharmaram of Konaraopet mandal. With the bomb exploding in its mouth, the animal died. Based on a complaint lodged by its owner Mudike Mallesham, Konaraopet police led by ASI Raghupathi Reddy began investigation by registering the case under BNS and Explosive Act. As part of the investigation, police began watching the movements of a seasoned criminal Pittala Rajalingam and took him into custody on Sunday morning after confirming that he was engaged in the manufacture of country bombs.
Based on the information given by Rajalingam, cops arrested Padigeli Laxmaiah, Thummala Kanakaraju of Chinnabonala and Mogili Anjaiah of Sardapur. Producing the accused before the media, Chandurty CI Venkateshwarlu said Rajalingam, who would prepare country bombs, used to sell them to Laxmaiah, Kanakaraju and Anjaiah. They used to hunt wild pigs using the bombs. They used to wrap bombs with sheep intestine and offer them to the pigs. Bombs would go off when the pigs bite them, killing them on the spot. Later, they would sell the pork.
The buffalo had died after biting a bomb made by Anjaiah.
While seven bombs, gunpowder and Rs.2000 were seized from Rajalingam, 40 bombs were seized from Anjaiah and 10 each were seized from Laxmaiah and Kanakaraju. They were produced before the court.
