Karimnagar: The movements of bikes of the dacoits, who looted jewels from PMJ jewellery after firing shots on Sunday, were found in CCTV cameras at Rudravaram near Vemulawada. The movements of the bikes were recorded at 11.25 am, just 14 minutes after the crime occurred. Burglars, who entered the jewellery showroom between 11.01 am and 11.07 am one after another, completed their task by 11.11 am.
They fled on the same two motorcycles, Pulsar (black colour) and Apache (white), on which they had arrived at the spot before the theft. Dacoits, who arrived at the shop from the Jyothinagar park side road, escaped through the same route. After the theft, burglars reportedly reached the Sircilla-Vemulawada road near Chinthakunta by passing through Vidhyanagar, Malkapur road and Chinthakunta.

Suspecting that the accused travelled towards Vemulawada and Sircilla, police checked CCTV cameras on that route and found the movements of the bikes at Rudravaram of Vemulawada rural mandal. Police suspected that the accused had recced the locality during the last one week to 10 days. One of the accused, who first entered the shop and enquired about a gold chain, had earlier visited the jewellery showroom. A few staff members had also recognised him, it is learnt.

All the five burglars carried small weapons and opened four rounds of fire when the staff tried to overpower them. Four staff members, including Mohammed Mustaq, Madhukar, Kamalakar and Rajesh, were injured in the incident. A bullet hit the stomach of Kamalakar, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital. A bullet passed beside the head of Mustaq.

Burglars, who filled jewellery into two bags, escaped with only one bag (weighing about 1 kg gold). When the staff resisted, they fled from the shop in a hurry, leaving another bag in the shop itself. Police suspected that all the thieves were non-locals and escaped to the neighbouring state through Kamareddy.
