Hyderabad: The Central government has not sanctioned any new educational institutions and funds to Telangana, while it gave away several educational institutions in the country in the last seven years, Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Friday.
“The Central government is discriminative against the State. Is Telangana not part of the country? While seven IIMs, seven IITs, 16 IIITs, 157 medical colleges and 84 Navodaya Vidyalays were sanctioned across the country in the last seven years, not even a single educational institution was given to Telangana,” she said.

Sabitha Indra Reddy along with Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali inaugurated a new hostel building at Osmania University College of Science, Saifabad here on Friday. Along with Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy, she also inaugurated new buildings for the district library in Medchal and the library in Chilkanagar in the Uppal constituency in Medchal district.
Continuing her attack, the Education Minister said Telangana was one among few States in the country that contributes the highest revenue to the Centre, but it was at the last position in terms of receiving funds from the Central government.
Even though the Central government has not sanctioned funds to the State, the State government had started 959 residential educational institutions, she said, adding 30 degree colleges for women alone and one Law College for women were established in State.
