Hyderabad: The police in the tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have set up check posts across the city and suburbs to curb illegal transportation of cattle ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
The check posts have armed policemen, local police and a team of veterinary doctors to check the fitness of the cattle being brought to the city from districts. The check posts are manned 24 X7 and the activity monitored through closed circuit cameras from the police stations and the main command control centre.
The Telangana police had warned the cow vigilantes to stay away from the roads and not interfere in the transportation of the cattle. It asked them to inform the police if they find any illegal transportation of cattle and assured them to initiate action against them.
Tension is already brewing in the city with the BJP legislator, T Raja Singh and other Hindu organisations demanding the police take action against those selling cattle illegally in the city.
Raja Singh, a couple of days ago went around the city on his motorcycle checking for the sale of cattle illegally. The police had asked the legislator not to go around without his security team in view of the threat to his life.
