Hyderabad: Saroj Khan, one of the most prominent choreographers of Bollywood breathed her last on July 3, 2020. Remembering her on the occasion of her first death anniversary, actors in the Hindi film industry come out to share few of their experiences with the late choreographer.
Having taught many actors for generations to shake their hip for a graceful thumka, the choreographer is still remembered for her contribution to the industry.
Actor Sharmila Tagore admits in one of her interviews that she didn’t enjoy dancing for a very long time and when she got a chance to work with Saroj Khan for ‘Talash’ in 1968, she taught her to loosen up and enjoy dancing. Hence, her dance number ‘Junli raat ma’ was so popular back in those days.
Actor Madhuri Dixit who doesn’t leave an opportunity to express her gratitude to the prominent choreographer, took to Twitter to share a memory of her along with Saroj Khan. “Remembering you,” she wrote. The duo worked together in hit songs like ‘Dola Re Dola’, ‘Ek Do Teen’ and ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’.
Managing Director of T-Series, Bhushan Kumar, who announced a biopic on the choreographer on her first death anniversary, also expresses his respect towards the lady who shaped up the choreography industry in the wide world of Hindi cinema.
“Her dance..told stories which helped every filmmaker give their best. She brought audiences to the theatres.. her journey though had a lot of ups and downs, the success and respect she gained from the industry has to be brought to life,” Bhushan said in one of the interviews.
