Mulugu: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Court Justice NV Ramana along with his wife has visited the historical Ramappa temple located at the Palamapet village of Venkatapur mandal in the district on Saturday. The CJI has been given a traditional reception at the temple by the priests and officials.

Speaking on the occasion, CJI NV Ramana said that recognition for the 800-year-old Kakatiya era temple Ramappa as a world heritage site in July this year by UNESCO was indeed a matter of pride not only to the Telugu people but also for all the Indians. “This architectural marvel built by the great sculptor Ramappa under the leadership of the Kakatiya’s chief of army Recherla Rudra Deva with the floating bricks and dolerite stone is still shining a star. The Ramappa Temple is an architectural marvel among the temples. Though it is the abode of Rudreswara Swamy or Ramalingeswara Swamy, the temple has become popular as Ramappa temple as sculptor Ramappa built it with much skill,” he said.

Chief Justice of Telangana Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, judicial officials, district officials, people’s representatives, staff of the ASI, Tourism department were present during the CJI visit. Meanwhile, the CJI is scheduled to inaugurate the judicial complex with 10 courts in Hanamkonda on Sunday.
