Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao remembered Telangana Armed Struggle leader Chityala (Chakali) Ailamma on the eve of her 126th birth anniversary on Sunday. He recalled the democratic fighting spirit of Ailamma who was the symbol of self-respect and social consciousness of women and artisan communities of Telangana. Born in most backward caste (MBC), he termed Ailamma as an inspiration for the Bahujan community in the State.
The Chief Minister hailed Ailamma as a great democrat who fought for her rights during the Telangana Armed Struggle, within the framework of the law and also in the courts for justice. He said Ailamma’s democratic fighting spirit was imbibed in Telangana’s statehood movement. He pointed out that the State government was organising the birth and death anniversaries of Ailamma officially. He assured that the government would take further measures to ensure that the future generations remember the great services rendered by her.
