Hyderabad: The Congress may claim confidence in winning the Jubilee Hills bypoll, but its nervousness was evident on Sunday when as many as five Cabinet Ministers, MPs, several MLAs, and corporation chairpersons hit the campaign trail across the constituency.

While one Minister met residents from Palamuru living in the area, another reached out to the Kapu community, and a Member of Parliament interacted with residents at a housing complex.

At the Kapu community meeting, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar sought to woo voters by highlighting party candidate Naveen Yadav’s BC status. “During regular interactions, community leaders should stress that Congress is winning the Jubilee Hills by-election comfortably. Each leader should share this message with at least 50 people,” Prabhakar told the gathering.

At another meeting, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya (Seethakka) appealed to Palamuru natives in Borabanda to rally behind the Congress, invoking a sense of regional sentiment. She said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who hails from Palamuru, was offering free Indiramma Houses to the poor.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao told a gathering in Madhuranagar that the bypoll would ‘sound a death knell for the BRS’. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy campaigned in Rahmath Nagar, while Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao conducted a door-to-door campaign in Madhuranagar.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is scheduled to join the campaign from Tuesday. A public meeting is planned at Police Grounds, Yousufguda, followed by roadshows on October 30 and 31, and November 4 and 5.
