Hyderabad: Marking the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Dasoju Sravan said on Wednesday that the biggest threat to the Constitution today was not from outside. The threat was mainly from those in power who swear by it in the morning and break it by evening, he said.
“On this Constitution Day, let us bow not to rulers, but to the rule of law”, he maintained. Stating that the Constitution is not a book, he said it is the soul of India. It is the shield that protects every poor, backward, and marginalised Indian from the tyranny of power.
“But today, the biggest threat to the Constitution is not outside, it is those in power who swear by it in the morning and break it by evening. From misusing institutions to suppressing voices, to twisting laws for political survival, the ruling class is indulging in constitutional betrayal. Leaders come and go. Governments rise and fall. But the Constitution must remain supreme, above ego, above vendetta, above corrupt politics,” he stressed.
