Karimnagar: District Collector K Shashanka on Friday instructed officials to take steps to control the prices of essential commodities in the wake of the State-wide lockdown.
Speaking at a review meeting with heads of various departments to discuss ways to control prices of essential commodities as well as problems in the transportation of essential goods, Shashanka said the prices of oils, pulses, onions and other essential commodities should not skyrocket. Officials should monitor the prices by frequently visiting wholesale markets and ensure that the rates of commodities are displayed at shops.
“There is no restriction on the movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities. If any vehicle is stopped, officials should speak with the Deputy Transport Commissioner and ensure that the vehicle is released,” he said, and instructed DCP not to stop vehicles carrying essential goods.
Instructing the officials to take steps to make available adequate vegetables in the markets, he said it was the duty of officials to control the prices and directed them to take serious action if anybody tries to hike the rates of essential commodities.
There should not be an inconvenience for vehicles transporting seeds and fertilizer for Kharif season, he instructed agriculture officials.
In the wake of the report of black fungus cases, there should not be any shortage for medicines. The Drug Inspector should take steps to make adequate medicines available. Since the rates of ambulances were fixed, officials should monitor to implement fixed prices.
Shashanka wanted the Assistant Labour Commissioner to control the migration of labourers to their native states in the wake of lockdown.
Stating that there should not be any problem in the supply of milk, eggs, chicken, mutton, he instructed officials to take steps to maintain physical distance from the people at chicken, mutton and vegetable markets.
Besides maintaining localities clean by taking up sanitation activity frequently, there should not be any delay in the supply of drinking water.
