Kothagudem: The district police have been striving for the development of people in agency areas, Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju said on Friday.
He along with Additional SP (Operations) Paritosh Pankaj and Bhadrachalam ASP Vikrant Singh inaugurated the four-day mandal-level volleyball competitions being organised by the Dummugudem police on Friday. As many as 54 teams were participating in the competitions.
Addressing the gathering, the SP said the youth of the agency areas should excel in sports along with studies. A sports complex built by police in Dummugudem mandal would be inaugurated soon. He hoped that the youth from Dummugudem mandal would reach the national level in sports.
The police department was taking up several programmes for the development and welfare of the tribals in the remote areas of the district. He advised the youth to stay away from bad habits.
It was a matter of great pride that Gongidi Trisha, who with her outstanding skills played a key role in India winning the Under-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup, hails from the agency area in the district.
Sportspersons should take inspiration from such people and excel in sports, Raju said.
The SP asked the public to be vigilant against cybercrimes. He appreciated the Dummugudem police and Bhadrachalam ASP for organising the tournament.
