Hyderabad: As the city entered the 14th day of the lockdown on Tuesday, the police continued to strictly enforce restrictions across the city. Though the roads were busy with people and vehicles during the four-hour relaxation period from 6 am, barricades were set up on the roads and vigil was increased in the residential colonies and bylanes adjacent to the main roads from 10 am.
During the relaxation period, hundreds of citizens were seen hitting the roads to buy groceries, vegetables and other essentials. Most shops were jam-packed and many places witnessed heavy traffic jams, including at Charminar, Kachiguda, Narayanaguda, Secunderabad Railway Station road, Miyapur, Kukatpally, Nampally, Ameerpet, Punjagutta and Begumpet.
From 9.50 am onwards, the City Police started patrolling the roads with sirens alerting citizens about the lockdown and asking them to get back to their homes. Apart from a few junctions, post 10 am, all the roads in the city wore a deserted look with the police intensifying the vehicle checking. Those found violating lockdown rules and venturing out on the roads unnecessarily were detained and their vehicles seized.
