Warangal: Communist Party of India (CPI) has congratulated the farmers and their organisations for their historic victory. “Their relentless struggle forced the Central government to repeal farm laws, but it must be ensured that the laws are repealed by Parliament in the ensuing winter session itself,” said CPI State Secretariat Member Takkalapally Srinivas Rao.

In a statement, Srinivas Rao said that the Prime Minister should answer why the government delayed the decision. “The struggle has already claimed the lives of over 700 farmers and led to the brutality of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. Farmers of the country have shown that the united struggle against the government can force it to yield and strengthen democracy,” he said.

Srinivas Rao also urged the people to intensify the fight against Labour Codes, Electricity Bill 2021 and CAA and NRC. “Prime Minister and government should also consider other demands of the farmers such as withdrawal of the Electricity Bill 2021, and legal protection to MSP and repeal of Labour Codes. A suitable compensation should be given to the families of more than 700 farmers who died in the agitation,” he added.
